This little mystery challenge has been fun for me, I hope it was for you too. Some guesses were right on & some you’ll never catch me knitting (ahem, a feminine product or undergarment).

So, what did those Ts turn into?  Mini Baby Booties!

I was working on these as baby shower favors for this beautiful woman and dear, dear friend who is about to become a mommy!

I had to make 25 of them and without the hard work of my mother and my sister Betsy, it never would have happened.  They were a HUGE help and I can’t thank them enough.  My only consolation was that they assured me they had a lot of fun making them.

Another thank you to Betsy for the photo!

To make the booty, a.k.a. bootay, flip the T upside down so that the cast on side is facing you.  Take one right side of the T and wrap it down and across so that it meets leg of the T and aligns with the cast off edge.  Like this:

Then repeat with the other side of the T crossing over the top.  Seam both sides then seam the front.  Then tie on a little bow.  Thanks to Betsy for the bow idea, I hadn’t thought of it myself but it’s no doubt necessary to complete the booty.  Also thanks to Betsy for tying them all on!

The original inspiration for the booties was a baby Chukka booty pattern that I had modified but after one of the comments last week called them fortune cookie booties, I did a quick ravelry search. Sure enough, same thing!  Thanks, jlstotts, your comment inspired another idea for the baby shower. On the table where we had the favors, I printed a sign asking guests to leave a good fortune for the baby, and take a keychain keepsake with them.

Let’s keep the good fortune going, leave a good fortune comment here for Baby C and I’ll pick 2 random winners on Wednesday and you’ll each be sent a keychain!
