400 Knitting Stitches: A Complete Dictionary of Essential Stitch Patterns is a lovely book filled with unique swatches that will make you oooh and ahhh! The price is right too!
I have a few other stitch dictionaries that I thought were pretty good, until I bought this. Those pale in comparison. Every pattern is both written and charted and there are some really cool ideas in here.
The book is broken into 6 sections: Knit-Purl Stitches, Crossed Stitches & Cables, Slipped Stitches, Lacy Stitches, Fancy Stitches, and Double Stitches.
Highly Recommend this one!
I went to the LYS yesterday to pick up some needles
But I walked out with this
Malabrigo Sock Yarn in Ochre. This is going to be swatched up using one of the stitch patterns from the book. I don’t know which one yet, there are so many good ones to choose from!
And Madelinetosh TOSH Merino Light in Antique Lace. This has a nice silvery sheen that is very elegant. I know just what I’m making with it, but more on that another day!

Gorgeous colors. Thanks for sharing about the stitch dictionary, it looks like it will be a very handy one to have in a collection.
I could definitely use a book like this; as a newbie knitter, I’ll take all the help I can get! Thanks for the recommendation.
Love the colors…as a very limited knitter I have and love this book. I second the reccomendation.
LOVE those colors! I’m sure whatever you make with them will be gorgeous.
