A Hat for Matt

It’s winter here in New England which typically means lots of snow. Since we’re also new home owners my husband “treated” himself to a new snowblower — it sure beats shoveling.  We’ve had just a few snowstorms so far and just about every time he walks out the door to clear the snow he says something like “Aw, man. It sure would be nice if I had a handknit hat to wear right now”.  Just by the tone of his voice I can tell he has a big grin on his face, but it’s time for me to take a hint and knit this man a hat!  After all, he is so supportive of me and my creative endeavors, it’s the least I can do!

I cast Bontanic Hat by Stephen West using two different colors of String Theory Caper Aran (an all-time favorite yarn).  I wasn’t totally satisfied with my color choice at first, although looking at it in pictures it’s quite lovely, I’m just not sure he would wear it that much.

Luckily, I had another skein in a darker brown that I substituted and I’m much happier with the result!  I’ll be starting the crown decreases now and should be done in no time!  Now, I sit and wait for a snowstorm. I love snow and it’s a little overdue because we’ve only had rain recently! 192A1312 192A1317

This is a really quick knit, and highly recommended!  Ravelry Project here.
