Grandma's Afghan

Posted on

Tomorrow I am taking my Grandma to painting class.  A few weeks ago, my 90 year old grandmother made the wise decision to stop driving.  We are all thankful that she came to this conclusion on her own.  Now we are able to spend time with her while taking her to classes, Dr appointments and shopping.   Kara made a Google calendar for us to sign up for quality Grandma time, I am looking forward to spending Thursdays with her.  I posted an afghan that Grandma knit for Kevin & I 12 years ago for our wedding gift.  Last night I cast on the same afghan in a beautiful gray.  I found the pattern in the book The Ultimate Book of Knit Afghans, published in 2000, the year we were married.  I think it will be very special to knit the same afghan she made for us, while spending time with her.  I have wanted to knit this for years, and I think it is the perfect opportunity. We enjoyed a quick fishing trip after school on Tuesday.  As soon as we got to the park it began pouring rain.  It has been a soggy week, but we enjoyed an hour of casting while dodging raindrops. The boys are excited to only have a week and 2 days left of school.  They are looking forward to quality fishing time. Kevin spends more time untangling line than anything else, but he knows it is the memories that really matter.

I really like those pictures of the boys. I just wish Darren was not so shy around the camera ;-)

The afghan is beautiful and you picked a great color for the next one.

Oh- and I have to say that those boys “of mine” are so stinking handsome. That is all.

I love this! The afghan is going to be beautiful in that yarn- looks very Brooklyn Tweed-ish! :)
