New York, NY

I'm a day late on my post but I hope I'm not a dollar short because I've got a little somethin' for ya! My husband has been traveling a bit and it worked out that we could meet up in NYC for the night Thursday and spend the day Friday in the city. It's our favorite place and it's sort of a special place for us to visit.  There's a certain magic in the air on the streets of New York that we love equally. We spent most of our time eating amazing food and walking around Soho. Since I was in Soho I couldn't miss the opportunity to swing into Purl Soho. I picked up some more Madelinetosh (of course) and some Manos del Uruguay to make some of these for another Christmas gift. Pattern also courtesy of Purl Soho's Joelle Horverson and their Book More Last Minute Knitted Gifts. Excellent book - and highly recommended! It not only gives you a bunch of great quick ideas for gifts but the book itself makes a great gift too - it's beautiful! Alright, so what's in it for you? It might seem a little unrelated, but it's not.  There is something about NYC and Starbucks that go hand in hand for me.  Maybe it's because there is one located on just about every corner but I love walking the streets with a Latte in hand. It's even better this time of year when it's a bit chilly and the red holiday cups are out that makes the coffee taste a 'lil better. Plus don't you just love a cup of coffee while you're knitting? Leave us a comment and you could win a $20 Starbucks gift card. We'll select a winner Monday afternoon! I apologize I didn't get this posted on Veteran's Day but I did want to make a moment and thank all of those who serve and have served our country.  I'm deeply indebted to you and I'm more than grateful for your courage.

I love NYC around Christmas also, but since I am going to be no where near there, I will instead be shopping in Chicago before Christmas this year! Which is also a very magical city to walk around! I think I might be a little devious and get my sisters something for Christmas that they HAVE to use in Illinois!! :) hint hint

I find NYC charming this time of year also! When you see your breath as you walk along and the air is so crisp, but the city is so lit up and vibrant. I remember experiencing it a few years ago with you, Kara, and seeing the skaters in Rockefeller Center and everything was decorated so pretty. It became a special event.

I wouldn’t want to live there…but there is something about being in the Big Apple!
That book of knitting gifts looks interesting.

Purl soho is on my list off places I would like to visit one day. Haven’t been to NYC in a while, Boston just seems soo much closer…

I would love to knit these for a gift but I am not buying one more skein of yarn, book, or pattern…..I have them coming out of my ears!

I think it would be alot of fun to go to Purl Soho in NYC> been so long since I was in “the city” that I can’t rave about it! Looks like a nice getaway for the two of you.

NYC has a way of getting right into my heart. I went to my first Starbucks there. Now just stepping inside Starbucks takes me back. For me NYC yarn stores are some of the best.

NYC is fun to visit, but I’m happy where I am. The book looks really neat, and I’m always up for coffee.

I really enjoy your blog and Starbucks coffee too! I hope to get to NYC and visit Purl Soho in person some day as opposed to my usual cybersphere visit.
