Painted Lampshade DIY

Posted on

I have been admiring these lampshades from Room & Board for some time.  They are a bit pricy.  So, I was inspired to paint my own.  Using a plain linen lampshade from Pottery Barn and a little Benjamin Moore sample paint, I was able to create a lampshade that matches my living room, without breaking the bank. First, I lightly drew some leaves onto the lampshade.  I wanted the paint to be even all around so, I needed a base before painting. At first I thought that I only wanted tone on tone, but the lampshade really had no punch. So I added a second and third color. No, it is not Room & Board, but I am happy with the outcome and the price.

Thanks! I just used a watercolor/acrylic brush that I had here – and I am not even sure which size it is. (Smaller with pointed tip will work the best)
