Switching it Up

Posted on

My Chance of Showers sweater is coming along great, but I was getting to the point in the project that I find myself at often...getting close to the end, but also getting a little bit bored. It's when I start daydreaming about -and searching Ravelry for - my next project. Luckily, the project I picked is a baby knit and enough of a distraction that I'll be ready to go back to chance of showers just as soon as this is done....and it's getting done very quickly, which is why baby knits are some of my favorites - well that, and they're SO stinking cute! I cast this on Saturday morning and if I had put my mind to it, I could have finished it yesterday but it turns out that a few other house chores got in the way. I should have it done in the next few days.  I made size 6 - 12 months which means Brooklyn will be styling this on our next cool day. 192A3129 Pattern: Rigmor Yarn: Madelinetosh Tosh Sock (held double) Color: Fragrant Needle: 16" size US7 192A3126 192A3123 The pattern doesn't have any pieces to it that are inherently very difficult, however the instructions did confuse in me a few places. I also found myself inferring or guessing as to what it meant or exactly what to do next. Luckily, I was right and I'm extremely happy with the results. I would certainly make it again. I mention it, because it's not a pattern that I would recommend for beginners. I'm also very tempted to try and size this so that I could make one in my own size!

I like the idea of switching to prevent boredom – it’s a knitter’s excuse for having multiple projects on the go at once ;-)

That is a pretty colorway. When you hold the yarn double, do you just use both ends of the yarn cake?

Yes, that’s exactly what I do. It works great with madelinetosh but there are some brands I’d probably think twice about doing this with! So far it’s working great though!
